Welcome to Express Hot Yoga Studio & Spa. All of our classes are designed for beginners and will be conducted in a hot room.
Every student has their first class and we encourage you to be patient with your practice. It takes 3 to 4 classes to get acclimated to the heat and another 10 to 15 classes done within 30 days to get the full benefits.
- Give yourself time to arrive 15 to 20 minutes early so that you can park and register for your first class. Please be on time as we do not allow late entry to the class once it has started.
- Hydrate before class. Start hydrating about 24 hours before your first class. You can have water in the room for during class but the most effective way to prepare is to do so before class.
- Eat something light about 2 hours before your class. Do not come to class on a full stomach or a completely empty stomach.
- Follow good yoga etiquette.
If possible, bath prior to your practice.
Please do not wear perfume or any scent. Thirty or more people sweating in a closed space is less odorous than thirty or more people all wearing different brands of perfume. Also, people with allergies can be very sensitive to perfumes.
Abandon the competitive mind-set.
Yoga is absolutely non-competitive. It is not just a “work-out”. It is not just “cross-training”. It is a practice, which makes the body stronger, more flexible, and generally healthier. But the aim is to calm the mind, open the heart and accelerate our evolution.
Enter the Yoga room in silence.
Please do not enter and start visiting. Go right into meditation or stretching. Your practice starts when you walk in. Visit with one another after exiting the class.
Practice on a an empty stomach.
It is recommended that you do not eat at least 2 hours before practice. If a special condition prevents this, eat easily digestible foods, i.e. fruit or yogurt one hour before class. Please refrain from smoking one hour prior to class. Keep others in mind.
Keep your eyes on your own practice.
We practice from the inside out. When you can finish your practice without knowing what the person next to you is wearing or even who else was in the room you’ll know you were truly focused.
Never bring a cellular phone or pager into the practice room.
This does not mean turn off the ringer, because sooner or later you will forget. Leave it in your car. Remember 90% of stress is self-induced.
Bottled water is the only food or beverage allowed in the practice room.
Bottled water is recommended before, during and after practice. It is important to drink plenty of water.
Be kind and loving to yourself by accepting who you are.
Rest sometimes. “Do what you can, with what you have, with where you are. ” Remember: “Wherever, whenever in our life we begin yoga, is perfect.” No experience or flexibility is required.
Arrive at least 10 minutes early*.
Entering class constantly late is very disruptive and disrespectful to the other students, and also to your nervous system. Consider being prompt as part of your practice.
No shoes in the practice room.
In yoga, people put their hands, and sometimes their face on the floor. You are going to take your shoes off anyway, so please remove them at the door.
Acquire and use your own mat.
Bring a towel and hand towel for use in class.
*Sorry no late entry into our 50 minute Express Hot Yoga Classes.
